How to gain clarity and find your purpose: The path to a fulfilled life

from Jessyca Haas

Introduction: Clarity and purpose - what does that actually mean?

We all know those moments when we ask ourselves: "What is the meaning of my life?" or "Why do I feel so lost?" Welcome to the club of people searching for clarity and purpose - a club that just about everyone is a member of. But what do these terms actually mean?

Clarity means having a clear understanding of your goals, values and visions. It is the inner peace that tells you: "Yes, I know where I want to go." Without clarity, we often feel like a boat without a compass, adrift in the ocean.

Purpose, or the meaning of life and vocation, is your deepest inner drive. It is the "why" behind everything you do. Knowing your purpose gives your life meaning and gives you the feeling that you are on a mission.

In my view, we even have several purposes throughout our lives, which we rediscover in the course of experiencing others.

The good news is: clarity and purpose are not mystical secrets reserved only for the chosen few. Anyone can find them - with a pinch of self-reflection, a dose of patience, a little discipline and a handful of practical tips.

Why clarity and purpose are so important

Imagine you're traveling to a new country, but have no idea what you want to do there. You get off the plane and just start walking - sounds exciting, doesn't it? But without a destination, you wander around, trying out all sorts of things, and in the end you may have experienced a few exciting things and feel exhausted, but not fulfilled. That's exactly how it feels when you go through life without clarity and purpose.

Clarity gives you focus, purpose gives you meaning.

Without clarity and a purpose behind what you do, you often make decisions out of uncertainty. This uncertainty can cause your self-esteem to plummet, leaving you stuck, stuck in your comfort zone and unable to move forward. Proactivity and consciously standing up for your own goals help you to leave your comfort zone and initiate positive change in your life. By being clear about what you want AND HOW YOU WANT TO FEEL, it will be easier for you to step out of your comfort zone and find the courage to break new ground.

The steps to clarity and purpose

1. find out what inspires you: The first step to clarity

Ask yourself: What makes you light up? What makes your heart beat faster? Your clarity starts with the things that excite you and come easily to you. These can be small things, like reading a good book, or bigger passions, like traveling or learning new skills.

Tip: Make a list of the things that bring you joy. Don't just think about what you should be doing, but about what you really love. When you fill your life with things that excite you, the clarity of your path becomes clearer - almost like lifting a veil of fog. And yes, you can put a lot on paper because you are versatile! It has helped me to look at my life like a mosaic for happiness. Many things become one big beautiful picture!

2. reflect on your past experiences: Your past as a key

Sometimes it helps to take a look at the past to find out what brings us clarity in the present. Think about which moments in your life have particularly touched or inspired you. What successes have made you proud? Which setbacks have made you stronger? Also feel if you still need to take the step of forgiving someone. This has helped me to make inner peace so that everything feels more effortless again.

TipKeep a "life review journal". Regularly write down what was particularly positive in your past and which experiences have shaped you the most. By recognizing what has inspired you in the past, you will receive clues as to what can also bring you clarity in the future.

3. get to know your values: What is really important to you

Your values are the core of your purpose. They are like the hidden driving forces that control everything you do. Without clarity about your values, you will constantly feel torn. Ask yourself: What principles are important to you? Freedom? Creativity? Family? Growth?

TipCarry out a values exercise. Write down 10 values that are particularly close to your heart and prioritize them. This process helps you to recognize which values really matter and how you can integrate them into your daily life.

4. changes as an opportunity for further development

When we have clarity about our values and goals, it is often necessary to make changes in our lives. Personal development goes hand in hand with change processes. Change can sometimes be scary, but it is the key to development. If you want to find your purpose, you have to be willing to leave your comfort zone and embrace change. Just writing, thinking and reading about it won't get you anywhere. What counts is implementation.

TipAsk yourself: What needs to change in my life to get closer to my purpose? So that I become more the version of myself that I really want to be? Going your own way often means letting go of old habits and daring to try something new. See change as an opportunity to grow.

I would like to share my experience with you: get someone by your side for this journey who is already where you want to be. It's easier together!

5 Understanding the phases of change

Changes in life often happen in phases. First, there is the phase of uncertainty and doubt - this phase can be overwhelming, but it is a necessary part of the process. In the second phase, the perseverance begins: This is about establishing new habits and continuing despite setbacks. Finally comes the third phase: positive change and personal development. This is where you see the fruits of your efforts.

TipBe aware that change takes time. Decision making and recognizing your purpose require patience. Give yourself permission to grow at your own pace without procrastinating.

6. get to know your strengths: What you are really good at

One of the best indicators of your purpose is your strengths. We often compare ourselves with others and only see what they can do better or what should be easy for them. Stop doing that! Focus only on yourself! What is easy for YOU? Why do people come to you? What do you lose yourself in so much that time flies by?

TipAsk friends and family what they perceive as your greatest strengths. This outside perspective can help you discover hidden talents that you may not realize yourself. Always keep this list to hand in case self-doubt arises from time to time. It's worth its weight in gold!

7. define your purpose: Clarity in one sentence

Once you have clarity about your values, strengths and goals, it's time to define your purpose in one sentence. Your purpose sentence is like a lighthouse that shows you the way when you feel lost.

TipFormulate your purpose in a clear, concise sentence. Example: "My purpose is to help others recognize their true strength and lead a fulfilled life." This sentence should serve as an anchor when you feel like you're losing track of things.

My purpose is for example: I help others to reconnect with their intuition in order to live with clarity a free and self-determined life and business that they really want to live!

I love it 😊

8. work-life balance as support for your purpose

While you are searching for your purpose and working on your clarity, you must not forget one thing: A healthy work-life balance is crucial. Overwork and stress often block access to your intuition and creativity. If you regularly take time for breaks, relaxation and personal reflection, it will be easier for you to find clarity about your life path. You don't need to take any shortcuts, but can enjoy the process.

TipPlan specific times for relaxation and reflection into your everyday life. This will help you to stay focused and not lose sight of your purpose.

Heart tip: Dare to dream crazy again. As crazy as you did as a child. Huge and colorful. There really are no limits. I love doing this. Sometimes with music. Sometimes in silence. With crayons and lots of color. True to the motto: Head off. Heart on.

Conclusion: Clarity and purpose - your key to a fulfilled life

Finding clarity and purpose is not a one-off step, but a dynamic process. It's about pausing again and again, listening to yourself and seeing change as an opportunity for personal development. Proactivity and making conscious decisions help you to follow your own path and achieve your goals.

By stepping out of your comfort zone and sticking with it, you will not only find more clarity in your life, but also live your purpose. No matter what phase of change you are in, remember that every step you take brings you closer to your goal. So, get out of your comfort zone and into your adventure!
